Rex Academy Adds Miami R-1 School District as a Recipient
of Its Title 1 Grant For Computer Science Curriculum
Rex Academy, a leading provider of Computer Science curriculum for Grades K thru 12, has awarded a one-year grant to Miami-R1 in Miami, Missouri. Rex Academy is working for equity in Computer Science education. As a component of Rex Academy’s focus to provide academic support and encouragement for Computer Science in Title 1 schools, this grant will allow a Miami-R1 classroom to use a Computer Science curriculum of their choice at no charge. Included in the grant is the implementation of Rex Academy’s unique Technology Learning Platform (TLP) and additional teacher training.
Miami’s forward-thinking leaders and staff are looking for innovative ways to bring to their district enhanced curriculum with a vision to prepare their students for the fast-paced digital world. Thus, preparing them for the future.
We are excited to announce that Miami-R1 has selected Scratch and Mobile App Development as their two semester-long courses. These courses are web-enabled project-based learning experiences featuring animations, in-depth videos, and hands-on projects to engage students’ creativity through S.T.E.A.M. and foster an understanding of computer science.
Rex Academy’s curriculum is aligned to TEKS, Common Core, CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Association), and other state and association standards. Rex Academy’s goal is to make Computer Science available to every student across the United States. To achieve this goal, they have built their curriculum so that instructors do not need a background in computer science to teach Rex Academy courses. They combine this approach with their TLP, which can track student progress through data analysis.
